New service – 24/7 Control Centre LE GROUPE OHMÉGA CREATES THE FIRST INDEPENDENT INDUSTRIAL CONTROL CENTRE IN CANADA
Gaspé, September 30, 2015 – Le Groupe Ohméga Inc. announces the establishment of its new 24/7 Control Centre division. In line with its tradition of innovation, the Gaspé Group is proud to announce that it will launch GONOCC in 2015, the first independent industrial control centre in Canada operating in Gaspé.
“I am very enthusiastic about the opening of this supervision and control service within Groupe Ohméga. I’m convinced that with its expertise, our company will be able to meet the growing needs of owners and industrial operators by optimizing their operations. The services of GONOCC will also be offered to wind farm owners, municipal aqueducts and sewage systems, increasingly complex business IT infrastructures and other industry applications requiring constant supervision,” said Martin Boulay, CEO. Le Groupe Ohméga’s announcement culminates a prolonged development effort, with the company having begun assembly and sales of this project in 2009.
For the wind energy industry, the control centre will enable remote supervision of the farms 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Le Groupe is proud to announce the signing of its first major contract with Cartier Énergie Éolienne for Cartier’s five farms. “We are pleased that Cartier Énergie Éolienne has entrusted us with the supervision of its farms,” added Boulay.
There are a number of benefits for owners of industrial equipment associated with the use of such a service, including:
- maximizing revenue;
- supervising operations;
- improving equipment reliability and availability;
- ensuring cyber security management.
“We have entrusted our information technology systems to the excellent services of Le Groupe Ohméga for a number of years. While discussing our needs related to 24/7 services, it became clear that the services they offered were a good match and complemented our already existing services, enabling us to attain a high level of efficiency in operating our wind farms,” said Robert Guillemette, executive director of Cartier Énergie Éolienne, Le Groupe Ohméga Control Centre’s first customer.
The new Canadian centre based in Gaspé will be led by Nancy Ste-Croix, Eng., director of the automation and industrial IT department. Five new jobs associated with the digital economy are being created. With leading-edge expertise developed in the region, the Groupe intends to continue to innovate and contribute to the prosperity of the Gaspé and Quebec.
